FLORIDASPORTFISHING

ASSOCIATION

Welcome

My name is John Durkee, and I am proud to be serving as your President in 2017. I, along with this year's Board Of Directors, look forward to making this year an exciting, educational, and responsible experience for ALL of our members, their families, friends, and friends we have yet to meet.

There are three things that are most important to the FSFA as an organization. They are Family, Fishing, and Fun. Family, our memberships are family memberships, and we encourage family participation at all times. Fishing can be an individual effort, a group outing, a contest/goal, or a quality family outing. Fishing is fun. This is the FSFA. If you are a member, thank you. If not we encourage you to become one today.

The Club has two Chapters to offer Family, Fishing and Fun opportunities throughout east Central Florida.

The South Chapter generally meets at 7:00 pm the 2nd Tuesday of most months at the Front Street Civic Center 2205 S Front Street Melbourne. The North Chapter generally meets at 7:00 pm the 4th Tuesday of most months at the Veterans Center in Merritt Island, 400 S Sykes Creek Pkwy, Merritt Island. Guests are always welcome so please join us!

Involved in our Community

Since the mid-1990s’ each year in June, in cooperation with the FWC, we host a free Kid’s Fishing Clinic. Over 5,000 children and their families have been introduced to fishing, boating safety and responsible respect for our marine environment.

In 2005 the FSFA was instrumental in the permitting and construction of the Canaveral Port Authority Site #23 reef.

The club maintains a presence at all public hearings and summits regarding artificial reefs off the shores of Brevard County. You might say that the FSFA has made its mark both on land and below the waves.

In 2014 the FSFA worked closely with the Port Canaveral Authority during the planning and construction of new boating ramps.

We are actively involved in our community including: THE KID’S FISHING CLINIC (in coordination with FWC, Canaveral Port Authority and Fish Florida), BREVARD EDUCATION FOUNDATION, BOY SCOUTS, BREVARD COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPT, CASTING FOR RECOVERY,  THE SNOOK FOUNDATION, BREVARD ZOO, CITIZENS FOR FLORIDA WATERWAYS, CCA, IGFA, THE DOLPHIN RESEARCH CENTER (tagging program), RFA, SPACE COAST REEL ANGLER'S and a number of local churches.

This is made possible by participation of our members and funded by the events the FSFA puts on during the year with your help.

Tight lines,

John Durkee
